Doing repetition pull-ups can be a real challenge if you have poor upper-body strength or excessive lower-body weight. Assisted pull-ups provide a means of developing strength before transitioning to the unassisted pull-up.
Stand on the bottom step of the GymWorks assisted chin dip machine and grasp the angled handles at the top. Kneel on the pad to test the pressure. Adjust it (more weight equals more assistance) to the point where you can do at least 8 repetitions. As you get stronger over time, gradually decrease the support you set for the knee pad until you can do one or more pull-ups without assistance. Your goal should be to eventually do up to 8 pull-ups with no assistance.
The assisted dip is an exercise mostly for the triceps muscle, including a little shoulder and chest work as well.
